- Identify a real supplier of your product in a foreign country
- Use the profile information you have already developed to identify a typical order/shipment size for your commodity coming to Canada
- Using the information above, along with the supplier's terms of sale, negotiate an Incoterm and purchase price for your commodity (in the origin country currency)
- Use the Internet to identify logistics suppliers who will pick up your commodity from the foreign supplier, ship it to Canada, and deliver it to your business location in Kitchener (show the carriers, routes, ports, and hubs involved - describe the process)
- Use the Internet to find logistics suppliers' rates for the various stages of the journey so you can begin to calculate landed unit costs for your shipment (show rates and calculations)
- For this exercise you are responsible for negotiating the procurement component and all the logistics services and Customs requirements
- State all assumptions made in arriving at a total landed cost for your commodity (show all rates, costs, and calculations)
- Consider including additional elements of an international purchase of this nature including, but not limited to, commodity pricing, seller's terms and conditions, Incoterms, transfer of ownership, cargo insurance, currency conversions, payment terms, etc. Remember you are describing a door-to-door activity in your Report
