Assignment 1
CS 1311 Intro to computing with Python
This is a Python Program
Lets say you are asked to write a simple program to calculate the cost of items sold at a hot dog stand.
The stand sells a bag of chips for $1.75, a bottle of drink for $2.50, a cookie for $0.65, and a hot dog for
$3.50. There is a tax of 6.25% on the total amount due. The input/output should look close to the
example shown below. Everything shown in the example is output produced by the program except for
the bold numbers (1, 2, 6, 3, and 30.00) typed by the user in response to the enter prompts. Assume
that (1) the amount of money paid is more than or equal to the amount due, and (2) the numbers are all
syntactically correct.
A sample output is listed below.
Enter number of bags of chips: 1
Enter number of bottles of drink: 2
Enter number of cookies: 6
Enter the number of hot dogs: 3
Amount Due = $21.15
Enter amount of money paid: $30.00

Hot Dog Stand Sale Bill
Bags of chips @ 1.75 each
Number = 2
Total Cost = $ 1.75
Bottles of drink @ 2.50 each
Number = 2
Total Cost = $ 5.00
Cookies @ 0.65 each
Number = 6
Total Cost = $ 3.90
Hot Dogs @ 3.50 each
Number = 3
Total Cost = $ 10.50
Total = $ 21.15
Tax @6.25% = $ 1.32
Final amount due = $ 22.47
