For each question provide: a) A justification of the statistical test you selected. A reference to a one-tailed or a two-tailed test does not answer adequately to this question (0.5 points) b) The statistical hypotheses (null and alternative hypotheses). The mathematical no- tation is not accepted (0.5 points) 0) The calculations and the results of the statistical test (1.5 points) d) Your interpretation of the results of the statistical test. Specify if you accept or you reject the null hypothesis and give the practical implications. The level of significance (or) is 5% (or 0.05). (0.5 points) Each question is worth 3 points for a total of 6 points. The teaching assistant and course instructor do not provide help on the theory of the course. Question 1 Your courses in urban studies have raised your interest for public transportation. Based on the information made available by Redfin 1, please test if the mean Transit Score 2 of smaller Canadian cities is lower than the mean score of larger Canadian cities (see Table 1 ) . Carry at least two (2) decimal places in all your calculations. Table 1: Transit Scores for Smaller and Larger Canadian Cities Smaller cities Larger cities 37.9 51.2 46.8 56.0 15.0 48.6 66.8 19.5 52.5 49.5 10.8 67.0 42.8 78.2 https://www.redfin.com/ https://www.walkscore.com/cities-and-neighborhoods/Question 2 U-Bahn GmbH is currently responding to a call for tender by the Flseau express mtropolitain (REM) for future light rail cars. This train company wants to validate if the noise level of its car is below the 70 decibels (dB) limit required by the REM. Based on the noise readings below, does U-Bahn GmbH satisfies this requirement? Please perform the adequate statistical test to support your conclusion. Please carry at least two (2) decimal places in all your calculations. Table 2: Noise Level Readings (dB) Readings 70.7 54.9 74.3 57.3 58.5 58.2 55.5 57.5 56.2
