Case Study

Background of the Project

The University of Manitoba is planning to introduce a new training program for individuals who want to take their CBAP (Certified Business Analysis Professional) exam. In order to do so, the University wants to contact all the stakeholders - both in the public and private sectors - and develop a database of their opinion. The information collected will be utilized to develop a new training program. The budget for the project is $10,000. Duration is four months.

Project Team

The project teams are within the University of Manitoba, Extended Education.

In Scope

• Identify stakeholders.
• Develop a questionnaire.
• Interview the stakeholders.
• Develop a database of stakeholders' feedback.
• Design a "draft" training material.

Out of Scope

• Design the "final" training material.
• Develop the CBAP training program.

You have been engaged by the University as the Prime BA for the project and asked to develop the business analysis information management approach for the project and present it to the project team in 2 weeks.

The business analysis information management plan should state:

1. How requirements information will be organized for the project;
2. The level of detail of the requirements that will be captured for the project;
3. How requirements will be traced and related for the project;
4. How the requirements will be reused for other initiatives? If Yes, how and if No, why not?;
5. How the requirements are stored and accessed; and
6. The characteristics of the requirements for each of the business divisions.
