Assignment #3: Group Project on the Development of Project Charter Description: 1. The Assignment is for the development of a project charter for a project in a real organization. 2. This assignment will be undertaken by the same group (that was formed in the beginning of the semester). Members of each group should nominate a focal person to communicate with the professor. 3. Please note that a student's name can appear only in one group. If a student's name appears in more than one group, it will be assumed that he/she do not belong to any group, and will not be graded for this assignment. That means. he/she will be given a zero mark. 4. The members of any group are aiso welcome to communicate with the professor when there are special issues involved. 5. Instruction on the selection of a Project i. Please select a completed project carried out by any one of the following organizations such as the World Bank (WB); Asian development Bank (ADB); federal, provincial, or municipal governments, the Department of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development. Canada (former Canada International Development Agency), or any organization of your choice where adequate project data is available. ii. When selecting projects from any other organization, please select only completed projects, and those for which you have all the required information particularly organizational strategy, project objectives, breakdown in scope, cost, and schedule. iii. Using appropriate data found in the selected project documents, you may modify the data with appropriate assumptions to suit your requirements. iv. You are likely to come across complex projects. In this case, you may simplify the projects using appropriate assumptions. If are in that situation, you may seek professor's guidance v. An example of a project charter is given in (Gido & Clements) e-Textbook with a different format. Please follow the template provided in the eCentennial. 9. Format of the Reports for Submission i. All documents to be submitted will be typed in single space with Arial font 12 on letter sized (8.5" *11") paper with one-inch margins all sides. ii. The project charter will have a page limit of minimum 4 pages, and a maximum of 7 pages iii. Project charter with excess or shortfall in the specified limit will penalized at 10% of the overall marks for the assignment per page iv. The page limit excludes cover page, table of contents, and references if any
