The customer shows a valid driver's license to the car rental clerk.

The customer provides a valid credit card to the car rental agency.

The customer has valid insurance and$/$or buys insurance from the car rental agency.

The car rental agency has cars of the specified type available on the lot $($not always a valid assumption$)$ or can upgrade the customer for free.

The customer picks up their car keys from the car rental clerk after filling out the rental paperwork.

The customer drives off the rental lot in their rental car.
