Assignment:

Each week, you will make a short journal entry (one paragraph) describing how you exemplified the leadership trait of the week. Be specific as to date, location and others involved. Include why you believe this trait is important.

The trait for the week is Justice.

Justice is giving reward and punishment according to the merits of the case in question. The ability to administer a system of rewards and punishments impartially and consistently.

Entry: While I was drafting the work schedule on Jan 21, one my employees and friends, Sue, asked for the weekend off to go to a concert in Dallas. Company policy is such that schedule change requests are submitted a week in advance. I asked but could not find a volunteer to take her shift. Sue became angry and said I should direct Ron the "new guy" to work. I refused. I think this is important since forcing him to work the weekend due to her poor planning would have be unjust and unfair. As a leader, I must be consistent.
