ASSIGNMENT HOS419 Please create an effective advertising message that would help with you with revenue generation as a business owner. Follow all the steps below and be creative. This assignment is 10% of your final grade. You could choose to write about a product, a service or both. Steps to Creating a Message There are six key steps for creating an effective advertising message: 1. Write an attention-grabbing hendline. You have just seconds to catch the attention of your customer. Think of something catchy, interesting, and appealing. Include messages that target your intended customers, hotel, or tourism guests. Think like a tourist: local, fresh, waterfront dining, best in the city. 2. Understand the needs of your target audience. What problem or need does your customer have? Are they in an unfamiliar area and want a delicious meal? Your ad should provide a solution. In the case of the billboard, the reader is hungry, yet probably doesn't want just any fast-food restaurant. You are providing the solution- a place to eat with delicious, one-of-a-kind options. 3. Provide a brief description of the product or service. One problem you will see with many ads is too much text. You need to describe your product or service in just a few words, especially if the viewer will only see your ad for a few seconds. Drivers will need to understand what you are selling without having to read a lot of text or look at small images. Use two or three words to describe what you are selling, such as 'Hot, Delicious Food' or 'Comfort, Home-style Meals.' These messages are straight-forward and to the point. Images of the food help, too. Pair an image of a giant burger or a fresh caught crab next to a famous landmark in the area and immediately tourists think, I'm hungry for that food in this cool city 4. Describe the benefit and value for your customer. This may be through words or images that portray the value. Pair your food with images of the city, famous landmarks, or celebrities that may have eaten there. Use words or phrases like, 'You can't go wrong eating here!' or 'Best way to end the day in our city.' Make your customer feel like cating at your restaurant is going to add value to their vacation. 5. Increase credibility. Add testimonials, opinions, and positive statements to strengthen your message. Has your restaurant been ranked on any review websites? Has it been featured in any local magazines or newspapers? Maybe the local mayor has eaten there? Because tourists are often unfamiliar with the area and your business, you want to help them feel confident and safe in making their decision to cat at your restaurant 6. Call to action What do you want your customer to do after reading your ad? This is the most critical step and is often overlooked in advertising messages. Clearly state what the next step is. For your billboard, your call to action may be, 'Exit 5' or 'Come get some delicious food, five miles.' These simple
