ASSIGNMENT INSTRUCTIONS AND GUIDELINES FOR ROOMS DIVISION OPERATIONS AND MANAGEMENT (HOSP3401/ BSHM3005)

The purpose of this assignment is to broaden your appreciation of management issues within hospitality industry and provide self-learning. You are expected to work on the given topics. The assignment feature the concepts learnt in this course and are based on academic articles, overall development of the hospitality industry in Oman and the case studies.

OUTLINE OF ASSIGNMENT

COVID-19 has tremendous impacts on many industries in the world. One of the industries which has faced a severe negative impact is the hotel and hospitality industry. The project will be done in self-selected groups of 3 students

Tasks:

1. Each group is asked to select one of the following hotel in Oman:
2. Crowne Plaza Muscat
3. Provide history and background information about the hotel.
4. Based on the concepts you learned in this course, explain the category of this hotel and type of the management followed.
5. Discuss the negative impacts of COVID-19 on the hotel and hospitality industry in the world.
6. Based on the concepts learned in the course, propose and develop to the owner of the selected hotel a service strategy statement.
7. If you are the manager of the above selected hotel in Oman, what are the main strategies that will you use and do to tackle and deal with the current negative impacts of COVID-19.
8. As a manger of this hotel, explain the strategies that you will use to attract and increase number of Omanis visiting this hotel during COVID-19 and in the future.
