Assignment Objectives:

$1.$ Describe and discuss the impact of OSHA and the EEOC on the workplace and on the role of unions.

$2.$ Compare and contrast the current environment with the environment at the beginning of the $20$th century.

Assignment Directions:

During the first week, you were asked to read and reflect on the history of the labor movement during the $20$th century as well as the history of the NLRB and the DOL. This week you are asked to read about two additional regulatory agencies, the Occupational Safety and Health Administration $($OSHA$)$ and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission $($EEOC$).$ Each of these agencies was created by a law, and each agency oversees and administering the laws.

Write a two $-$ four page summary$/$reflection of the readings on these two agencies $($supplemental readings$).$ Your paper should give a brief summary of the readings plus your reflection$/$analysis of the implications for the current business environment. Here are some questions to explore:

$$In what ways do these agencies harm or Help businesses? Individuals?

$$How might these laws have changed or altered the business environment?

$$What differences have these types of laws made in the environment that is different from the environment at the beginning of the $20$th century?

$$Have these types of laws altered the need for unions?

Be sure to support your analysis with reasons. Your reflection$/$analysis should be at least half of the paper.
