This topic builds on the following scenario: Imagine that you are a new employee working for a large corporation. You$$ve been on the job six months and your best friend suddenly announces she$$s getting married $$ next week, on a whim. Unfortunately, the day and time that the wedding is taking place are unconventional: next Friday at $11$:$00$ a$.$m$.$ As a result, you$$ll need to ask for the whole day off.

Your supervisor has agreed to give you a day off on the condition that you get someone else to cover your shift and meet with clients during your absence$.$

After checking the work schedule for next week, you noticed that your co$-$worker who works down the hall, Rosy, has the day booked off. You would consider Rosy an acquaintance rather than a close friend. You also know that she has planned to take her children to the Granville Island Children$$s Festival on the same Friday as your friend$$s wedding $($the festival runs from Friday to Sunday, but Friday is both cheaper and less busy!$),$ as she told you this in the lunch last week.
