You will be creating a provocation appropriate for children, 2.5 to 6 years and an information sheet about your provocation

Follow the template provided below to assist you in completing your provocation and information sheet.

Part One: Provocation Template:

Provocation: Create a provocation of YOUR OWN. Gather the materials and set-up your provocation as you would in the classroom. Take a photo or photos of your provocation and submit your photo or photos. Your photo or photos should reveal a:

provocation created by you

provocation display that is professional in appearance

provocation that is engaging and inviting for children

provocation that is developmentally appropriate and promotes inquiry

provocation that supports child-led learning rather than teacher directed

Part Two: One Page Provocation Information Sheet Template:

Your information sheet should be organized and professional in appearance. This information sheet is for parents or child care providers and is designed to educate the reader about provocations and child led learning.

Your information sheet should contain the following sections:

What is a provocation? Explain what provocations are all about (what it is, benefits etc) and the learning that comes with provocations. Be sure to cite your sources if you are paraphrasing this information from another source.

Skills Encouraged: Explain in your own words, how your provocation encourages skills by making a minimum of three different domain connections from Excerpts from ELECT, preschool - kindergarten (2.5 to 6 years).

Example: Cognitive Domain: This provocation encourages skill 4.2 Problem-Solving, in the Cognitive Domain as outlined on p. 46, ELECT by...

Brain Connections: Make a minimum of one brain connection from Start Smart, clearly connected to the provocation. Be sure to include the page number.

4 Open Ended Questions: Provide a minimum of 4 open ended questions you could ask a child involved in your provocation, to promote inquiry and extend learning. These questions should be clearly connected to your provocation.
