Assignment Title: Institutionalizing Al-Itihad Company

1. Background

Al-Ithihad Company was established 20 years ago and is specialized in manufacturing sheet metal products. They have 2 production lines. And they manufacture many products such as tables, chairs, cabinets, shelves, etc.

50 employees are working at the company (Engineers, workers, technicians, drivers, office boy, accountant, sales employees, and guards)

Many employees work at the company with no specific job descriptions and without job titles which leads many times to interconnections in responsibilities and authorities.

1. Objective of the assignment

The Top Management decided to conduct an institutional development project aiming at organizing the work at the company and increasing productivity.

1. Scope of Work:

The company is seeking the services of a consulting company to prepare the following:

1. Assessment Report of the existing situation

• Assessing the existing situation at the company in terms of job descriptions, organizational structure, and availability of SOPs
• Prepare an integrated report and present it to the top management
• Update the assessment report based on the feedback of the top management.

2. Preparing organizational structure (OS)

• Prepare different scenarios (at least 3) for the suggested OS (making comparison between these alternatives.
• Presenting the alternatives for the Top Management
• Finalizing the OS based on the Top Management selection and recommendations.

3. Preparing job descriptions

• Design a template for the JD form
• Prepare the JDs for all job titles mentioned in the OS
• Present sample of the JDs for the Top Management
• Finalize the JDs based on Top Management notes and Recommendations

4. Preparing standard operating procedures (SOPS)for the production process.

• Describe the Production Process in a process flow chart
• Identify how many procedures we need to develop to manage the production process.
• Prepare a format for the documents SOPs
• Prepare the SOPS
• Present the SOPS for the Top Management

1. Time frame of the assignment

The assignment is expected to be conducted within 5 calendar months.

1. Team Leader ( Industrial engineer - 10 years of experience Proven record of experience in similar assignments) Full time
2. 2 Industrial engineers ( 3 years of experience - Proven record of experience in similar assignments) 3 man month for each of them.

1. Payment Schedule

• Submitting Assessment Report 10%
• Submitting final OS 20%
• Submitting JDs 20%
• Submitting SOPS 30%
• Submitting final report 20%

The consultant will report directly to the General Manager, Eng. Salem Salem.
