Assignment:

Watch Nims Island and write a character profile paper. The assignment must be well-written (typed) and concisely detailed (minimum 800 words).

1. Introduction
   • Provide a brief introduction to the purpose and content of the paper (one paragraph), including a brief synopsis of the plot and a focus on the character selected.
2. DSM-5 Diagnostic Criteria
   • List the complete and accurate DSM-5 criteria necessary for a diagnosis of the specific disorder portrayed by the movie character. Be very specific, including specifiers or subcategories where appropriate. (You may bullet point the criteria.) Note: these must be the actual DSM-5 criteria, so be sure of your sources, and cross-check them with the text (many online sites give inaccurate criteria).
   • Examples of Diagnostic Criteria: For each of the DSM-5 diagnostic criteria, give specific examples of the abnormal thoughts, feelings, behaviors, etc. exhibited by the character to illustrate the symptoms. You should include examples of at least the minimum number of symptoms needed to diagnosis the specific disorder. It is imperative that you are clear as to which symptom or criteria you are referring to in providing the example(s) within this section.
     • Criteria 1: Specify the first symptom criteria. Example 1: Give specific examples of the abnormal thoughts, feelings, behaviors, etc.
     • Criteria 2: Specify the second symptom criteria. Example 2: Give specific examples of the abnormal thoughts, feelings, behaviors, etc.
3. Empirically Supported Treatments
   • Describe the empirically supported treatment(s) for the diagnosed disorder. This section will almost certainly require scholarly outside sources, which should be appropriately cited and referenced.
