Assume that you have a deadline for completing important documents on the 16^th. On the 3^rd, you asked Wilcox, a member of your team, to prepare an important analysis and get it to you by the 14^th. You are making a presentation on the 16^th and you would like some time to review Wilcoxs analysis.

On the 9^th, you emailed Wilcox and reminded him of your deadlines. On the 10^th, Wilcox replied, I wont be able to get all of the information to you by the 14^th. Some data are buried in the archives. My assistant has been out for a week and I have a dental appointment on the 13^th. I can get most of what you need by the 23^rd.

Consider the following actions for working with Wilcox. List 2 advantages of each.

A. Text Wilcox that you understand. Ask Wilcox to grant you access to some of his data bases so that you can prepare the material. Spend as much time as you need to get the report ready for the stakeholders. If there are questions from stakeholders, avoid placing any blame on Wilcox.

B. Wilcoxs response is not a big surprise. Some of the data do not seem to be that important and you wonder why the stakeholders even asked for it. Take what you have. If there are questions, tell the stakeholders you will respond to them after the meeting.

C. Call Wilcox and firmly explain that you must have the data and you are depending on him to get it. Insist that he change his schedule if necessary and let him know that you will not cover for him with the stakeholders.

D. Call Wilcox and ask him to meet you in the office on Sunday the 15^th, and you will work with him to try to get as much done as you can. You understand that you will likely be able to get only about ninety percent of what you need and that is probably the best you can do.

E. Explain to Wilcox how the data will help serve the company mission. Ask him if he has other suggestions for how to get the data. Tell Wilcox that you expect to have all the data ready for the presentation on the 16^th. You will do what you need to do but you expect him to do his part, also
