At U$.$S$.$ Customs and Border Protection $($CBP$),$ an Agent who is unable to demonstrate an acceptable level of proficiency with a firearm will have the authority to carry a firearm suspended and must immediately relinquish the firearm to the Instructor. The Agent will then be immediately scheduled for remedial training. In the event the Agent fails remedial training due to reasons beyond the Agent$$s control, then they may be reassigned to a position that does not require the carrying of a firearm.
