August 21, 2017 The Great American Solar Eclipse. This was an event that many people were anxiously awaiting and preparing for. Companies began selling, and some giving away, eclipse glasses for viewers to safely look at the sun during the eclipse. A few weeks before the eclipse, it became known that some of the glasses sold/given away may not have been aligned with the proper ISO safety standards; this caused major recalls of these potentially counterfeit glasses.
