Background to Unit Recording, Analysing and Using HR Information

This unit explores the critical role of data and information, often referred to as the lifeblood

of an organisation, within an HR context. In todays highly regulated knowledge-based and

technology-led workplace, the effective use of organisational data and information is

essential and, given the core role of successful people management in organisational

success, the effective management of HR data should be at (or at least near) the top of the

HR practitioners agenda.

The learning outcomes from this unit are that you will be able to:

1. Understand what data needs to be collected to support HR practices;

2. Know how HR data should be recorded and stored;

3. Be able to analyse HR information and present findings to inform decision-making.

Key Learning Summary and Development plan

Reflect on any learning from your assessment and wider study of the unit, your work on your

assignment (including attendance at the workshop), and the progress of your development

plan objectives. You should then allocate appropriate time to complete the Key Learning

Summary reflection.

You should also identify any learning points for the future and add to your Development

Plan accordingly and also give small updates on any on-going objectives in the right-hand

column, (using a different font colour or other visual indicator that links with your KLS

colour).
