Background: You are a project manager assigned to work with a faculty member at Walsh. A business case has been approved for the addition of an "Advanced Program Management" class in the MBA program. The College has hired a new faculty member with a PgMP certification and is the only one qualified to develop the course. You will be working with the department chair (sponsor), the new faculty member (subject matter expert or SME) who will write all 11 weeks' content, and the Division of Online Learning (DOL), who will get the course ready to put in Moodle. The DOL is an in-house department that takes content from instructors and puts it onto Moodle. You may use titles for different stakeholders; names are not required. You may assume any information not given in the instructions.

Other functional areas of the organization should be considered as stakeholders as well.

Lectures and assignments need to be written by the professor (one week at a time), all need to be ready for Moodle by the DOL, each week reviewed and approved by the sponsor, and the entire course be ready to run in fall 2022. The addition of this course will not cause any expenses or expansions for Moodle. The new professor is salaried so there is no SME cost. The DOL estimate is $25,000 and outside material for the course is expected to be less than $2000.

The project is scheduled to begin on March 1 and must be completed by July 1 to allow fall enrollment. Once it is readied and students can enroll, it has met the criteria for the project.

Details: Create a project charter using the attached project charter template (below). There is no one right way to do this, but there are deficient ways if you overlook a significant component. Be sure you read the lecture content on charters before beginning.

Type right into the document after saving it to your computer and upload the Word document by the due date. Remember to be thorough yet concise in your writing. If you need advice or assistance, please contact or post a question on the Assignment 1 Student Discussion board. You should not need to include any researched material in this charter. Watch scope creep - it will cost you rather than help you.
