Statistical Process Control Case Description
Executive Summary
Bama Burger Buggy (BBB) is a local food truck company. They currently have multiple trucks serving meals in the local area. They want all of their customers to have a great experience every time they come to one of their food trucks.
Bama Burger Buggy thinks they have two major Quality Issues. The first deals with Customer Satisfaction. The second deals with the number of daily missed shipments.
They would like to implement some Statistical Process Control in order to help get to the root cause of finding out if there are issues and how to solve them.
Project Description for SPC Customer Satisfaction Issue
Bama Burger Buggy (BBB) has noticed an issue with how many unsatisfied customers they are having over time. They think their process is relatively stable and they should be able to use Statistical Process Control to figure out what day(s) the most unsatisfied customers occur.
BBB has decided to randomly sample 150 customers per operating day. They have asked each customer if they were happy with their experience or unhappy with their experience with BBB. They have gathered 6 months of data starting on April 1,2023. This data is recorded in the Customer Satisfaction Data sheet in the Excel Workbook.
BBB wants to use a P-Chart to monitor this process. They would like to say a point that is out of control is outside of three standard deviations away from the mean (below and above).
Deliverables for SPC Customer Satisfaction Issue
Bama Burger Buggy (BBB) has provided the number of Happy and Unhappy Customers in the Customer Satisfaction Data sheet.
They have asked you to calculate the Upper Control Limit and Lower Control Limit for the P-Chart for them. The workbook already has the P-Chart made for you in the Customer Satisfaction Output sheet, the calculations just need to be found.
In the Customer Satisfaction Data sheet you will need to find the following:
% Unhappy Customers
Sample size for customers
Average percent Unhappy Customers
Number of Standard Deviations
Standard deviation of the P-Chart
Upper Control Limit for P-Chart
Lower Control Limit for P-Chart
In the Customer Satisfaction Output sheet you will need to review the created P-Chart. You will need to select if the process is In-Control or Out-of-Control. You will then need to write a paragraph of Recommendation based on the P-Chart.
Project Description for SPC Missed Shipments Issue
Bama Burger Buggy (BBB) has noticed they are having some issues with the delivery of raw materials. They are ordering the goods, but they arent being received. They would like to find the root-cause of why these shipments are being missed. They think it might be because of the day in which shipments are being received.
BBB has been recording the number of missed shipments per day in the Missed Shipments worksheet. They started collecting data on 4/1/2023 and have data through 9/29/2023.
BBB would like to use a C-Chart to monitor the process. They would like to say a point that is out of control is outside of three standard deviations away from the mean (below and above).
