Bar-Fly is a large bar operating in Eastern Canada. Though most of its staff members are trained to diffuse hostility and aggression among patrons, fights occasionally occur. At least one bouncer is on duty to handle such situations. Sam, a university student, visits Bar- Fly one night with several of his friends. Though Sam and his friends stick to themselves, an altercation breaks out at the table beside them. It is soon quelled by Bar- Fly staff. Mike, one of the bouncers, then accuses Sam of starting the fight and demands that he leave. When Sam protests his innocence, Mike begins to gesture wildly very close to Sams face. He then grabs Sam by his shirt collar and throws him from the premises with such force that Sam suffers serious spinal injuries. While all this is going on, one of Sams friends slips in the mens room on spilt beer that had been accumulating for hours. He lands hard and breaks his arm. 1.
