In this assignment you will reflect on your personality type and the characteristics that will help you succeed, as well as the characteristics that may hold you back. For this assignment you will:
1. Review the results from the personality tests you took in class: Five Factor Personality Test, Johari Window and others (if available).
2. Read the article: Could Your Personality Derail Your Career?, ChamorroPremuzic, Tomas. Harvard Business Review, September-October 2017. Identify your dark side personality traits.
3. Conduct further research to deepen your understanding about the role of personality in the workplace and/or the personality traits that are associated with professional success.
4. Reflect on how this greater self-awareness will influence your goals. Your writing assessment will be a formal business document, using formal language, correct sentence and paragraph structure. It will also include research from at least 2 peer-reviewed journal articles. You are advised to use the following format: Introduction Provide background and context for this topic (what is your topic, why is it important, what does the reader need to know about the topic), clearly state the key, specific idea of this paper (think of this as your thesis statement) and a very brief summary of the arguments that support your idea. Analysis Conclusion Closing remarks and next steps. Restate your main idea, and the main points that support the main idea.
2. Analysis About Specific Elements of Personality on Organizational Effectiveness You will analyze a topic related to personality and organizational effectiveness. You will start by doing some research (peer-reviewed), reflect on what youve leaned and generate insights about the topic. You may work independently, as a pair, or as a group of three (assignments with 4 people will not be accepted). For example, you may want to follow up on the Dark Triade from chapter 2 (Narcissism, Machiavellianism, Psychopathy). Perhaps you are interested in the personality traits that are most closely related to ethical decision making, or effective leadership. The Harvard Business Review has many interesting articles that are relevant to Organizational Behaviour. For example: Read the article: Could Your Personality Derail Your Career?, Chamorro-Premuzic, Tomas. Harvard Business Review, September-October 2017. The Harvard Business Review can give you interesting ideas, however this is not considered a peer-reviewed journal. You must include research from 2 peer-reviewed journals for this assignment. Whichever topic you choose, the length of the paper should be around 1500 words. Your paper will be evaluated based on your critical thought, your writing organization & style and your level of research (see attached rubric). You must use proper APA citations to reference your work. The sources you use must be cited and used throughout your work.
