Between Groups ANOVA Homework

Do I reject the null?

Partial support, full support or no support of the hypothesis?

Instructions

  • Keep three decimal places for all calculations and report two decimal places in all answers.
  • You may enter one answer at a time or several answers (depending on how brave you feel at the moment) and then click the "Submit answers" button.
  • If your answer(s) is correct it will appear in green.
  • If your answer(s) is incorrect, it will appear in red (and you should change it).
  • If you can't figure out how to calculate some value you can type "help" into the answer field to get the correct answer (but you won't get points for that trick).
  • When you have all the correct computations, you'll be asked to decide about the H0: and the RH:.
  • Then you'll be told your score so far and asked if you want a new data set to try again or would like to continue with the write-up.

Dr. Klaster claims to have developed a way to improve college student's attention span during boring lectures. The wrist band includes a galvanic skin electrode that measures decreases in the skin's electric potenial which, according to Dr. Klaster, is a sign of inattention. Whenever the wrist band detects inattention, it delivers a slight shock -- to help the wearer regain her or his attention. Students in one of Dr. Klaster's classes who volunteered to participate in an evaluation of the wrist band (for $50 -- for some reason he had trouble getting volunteers?!?) were randomly assigned either to wear one of the wrist bands (group 1) or not (group 2) during the next class period's lecture. At the end of the class period all of the participants took a quiz over the material from the lecture. Each participant's score was his or her number correct on the 20-point quiz. Dr. Klaster hypothesized that those wearing the wrist bands would score better on the quiz than those who did not wear the wrist bands.
