Business Finance Project$-$Based Case Study

In order to complete this project$-$based case study, you will be asked to reflect on small business opportunities in your area, whether that be the town in which you currently live, or a town nearby. You will need to conduct some market research to determine appropriate and applicable numbers to use for your calculations and projections. Be sure to document all of the sources you use for your research.

REMEMBER: This is a project in which you will demonstrate your learning for this unit. You can and should expect to put a considerable amount of time, research, and energy into this project! I am looking for well$-$researched ideas, and I expect to see realistic numbers and explanations for ALL the questions.

Questions:

What is one small business that you feel would be feasible in your area? Identify and explain the concept for the business.

What factors do you need to consider when determining the feasibility of a business? Explain why each factor is important.

Why do you think that the small business you identified would be feasible in your area? Would your business idea work in any other cities$/$towns$/$villages$?$ Why or why not?

How much profit do you expect your business will be able to generate in the first $6$ months? Remember to take all expenses into consideration as well as your projected sales. Show all of your calculations.

What is the projected break$-$even point of your business? Be sure to show all of your calculations.

Now that you have completed the calculations to determine the profitability of your business, do you still think that your business would be feasible? If you had all that you needed to move forward with this business starting tomorrow, would you open your small business?
