2. The defendant, Stella advertised in a newspaper advert stating that she was selling shares of her company on the stock market for $1 per share. Many people saw the advert and about 20 people bought the shares because it was cheap. Stella was then charged by the RCMP police, the Claimant with unlawfully offering and selling shares on the stock market without a licence. Stella did not know you need a licence to sell stocks. She is arguing that the advert was NOT an offer but merely an invitation to treat.
