Your Co-op Supervisor has asked you to draft a letter for them to a co-op student based upon an email that was received. The return address for the airport is 1 - 4881 Fountain St North, Breslau, ON NOB 1M0` I just received this email. This Coop Student is asking to complete a task that was assigned to them in order to improve their w performance review rating. The student is unhappy with their rating and wants to complete the tasked they were assigned. The student missed an important meeting where the task was assigned to them. There was a recap email sent to the student, indicating thee request and asking for a response, but the student did not respond before the deadline. Because the task was time sensitive, it was given to another coop student. The student received a poor performance review because they did not indicate that they were going to miss the scheduled meeting and then did not respond to the email was sent to them asking them to confirm their availability to complete the task. The student has indicated that they weren't feeling well and that is why they missed the meeting and could not complete the task. Please remind the student that if they cannot make a scheduled meeting, they must notify the organizer of the meeting in advance. Unless I am notified that there is an issue, then tasks are assigned during the scheduled meeting. If the student had notified me that they were not feeling well, the task would have been allocated to another resource. The purpose of a co-op position is to expose the student to workplace practices so that they know what will be expected of them. Even though this is a co-op position in which students are given an opportunity to learn, it i important that students demonstrate the behaviours that are expected in the workplace. The student is offering to complete the assigned task now, but it is too late. Like many tasks in the workplace, it is time sensitive and completing it after the deadline would not serve the original purpose of the task. I cannot upgrade the performance rating but if the student is proactive when they are unable to make a meeting by contacting the organizer and trying to make alternative arrangements before the task is due. The only exception would be if the student was able to produce a doctor's note indicating that they were unable to notify me in advance because of their illness. Otherwise, if they are unable to complete a task. they should notify the organizer of the task in advance of when it is required. If they do that in future, they will definitely improve their performance rating before their co-op position ends. Because this is regarding the student's performance rating, please send the student a letter so that the reasons for their rating is documented. Here is the student's address
