Spirometry is a test of lung function that measures how much and how quickly (volume and flow) of the air movement in and out of the lungs. The measurements are made using an instrument called spirometer, which can provide the following parameters: Forced expiratory volume in one second (FEV.) (in percentage %) Forced vital capacity (FVC) (in percentage %) . Ratio FEV/FVC (in percentage%) These parameters can be used to make a diagnosis and to determine the severity of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), an obstructive respiratory disorders characterized by airflow limitation and inflammation.
