Carbon dioxide, CO2 is considered as one of the causes of global warming due to increase of anthropogenic CO2 concentration in the atmosphere. Membrane separation is used to control CO2 emission for this purpose. CO2 gas enters the membrane at 0.02 atm partial pressure and the pressure on the other side of the membrane system is zero. Two different layers of membrane with different permeability value for CO2 gas separation is as per following: Permeability of CO2 in first layer = 523 GPU Permeability of COz in second layer 1300 GPU 1 GPU = 1 x 10 cm' (STP)(cm2 s cm Hg) = 3.35 x10-10 mol/m².s.Pa 1 mol of gas (STP) occupies 24466 cm' of gas volume.
