CAN I GET A CONSTRUCTIVE FEEDBACK ON THIS ESSAY

Games have always been incorporated in non-technology based programs for ice-breakers and get to know you games. As technology has improved so has the potential for the games. The quick response, timers built in, and the ability to train multiple people around the world at the same time have grown.

Simulation is very much a technology-based training. Now that we have Virtual Reality technology anything is possible in a safe environment. Mechanics can use it to replicate preforming oil changes in a vehicle. Pilots replicate flying in the air while dealing with different weather patterns.

Role Play can be used as trainees have the chance to interact with animated characters online.

Before reading the chapter I know that through technology we can have games and simulations in our training programs. I never thought that role playing would be something that we could do in a technology based training program.

If you were designing a technology-based training program, when and why would you use each method?

Games- I would use games still as an icebreaker or get to know you more games. If I am training new and old staff I would pare them up for a game of knowledge. Kind of an introduction to what the training is all about. I would also put together a game at the end to make sure that the knowledge that was given throughout the day was remembered. If the content is mandatory this also is a good way to provide a fun break in the content while still learning about it.

Simulation- In my profession, simulation would not be something I would provide in a training session. If I worked in a field that had hazardous working conditions or could be dangerous yes I would. Protecting workers and allowing them the training that is needed to be safe on the job is a priority.

Role Play- I would use role playing when you are training situational information. This would be used when an employee is first starting in the company and is working with customers, suppliers or helping people find solutions to their problems (tech support). Most of these scenarios happen on an ongoing basis and role playing will give the trainee the outcome that the organization is looking for.

Each one of these has their own place in training. Depending on what profession or field you are in, will depend on which ones you will use for training!
