One of the classes that I found most difficult in my general education core was math. I have always struggled with math and felt like I never really understood the basics. Because of that, when new concepts were introduced, it felt like everything just kept getting harder and harder. There were times when I felt like I was just rolling with the punches and trying to hang on rather than truly understanding what was happening. It was definitely a course that tested my patience and confidence.

The strategies I used to get through it involved asking for help and finding resources outside of the classroom. YouTube became a major tool because there were videos that explained equations step by step. I mean every single step, even down to order of operations like PEMDAS. In class, the professor often skipped over those parts because it was assumed we already knew them, but I needed to see the process in detail. Online tutors also helped break things down for me and gave me a chance to practice until it started to click.

What I ultimately learned from the experience is that success is not always about mastering a subject but about persistence and finding the resources that work for you. I did not walk away from math feeling like an expert, but I did pass the class, and that allowed me to move forward into the next one. For me, that was a victory in itself.
