It allows project managers to measure what is being done on projects and determine if their process is working or failing and project if the project will be successful upon completion. An example would be in marketing where sales from after a new ad is released are analyzed to determine in the the advertisement was successful. Another example would be sending out surveys to determine what the consumer or customer is looking for prior to product development, or after to determine if they are satisfied.$$
