Carol in childcare In the staff meeting Carol facilitated a discussion on the qualities of communication that build belonging, trust and connection in the service community. She challenged staff to reflect for a few days on what qualities they felt were most important to ensure strong collaborative partnerships are built and maintained between staff, families, children and wider community. Some of the points that were raised in the meeting were thinking a new about accessibility and universal design, as it has been a few years since the service explored best practice in technology and digital communication tools.

Identify five (5) qualities that would enhance effective communication with stakeholders in an early childhood service. Include at least one (1) quality/principle of Universal Design and one (1) principle of accessibility in the response.

C) Carol would like to streamline communication tools being used in the service to share information. She suggested that it would be good to make up a list of tools that could be used to gather information from families, staff, children and the community. Once the list was made, the tools could then be assessed for viability and relevance for Little Catalysts EL community. Carol mentioned in the meeting some of the key considerations: New families coming into the service and orienting into the community Regularly reflecting and reviewing all areas of service practice with key stakeholders: families, staff, children and community (remember the goal of 'excellence'!) Staying innovative and keeping up with professionalism in the sector.
