Case assignment: Cinemex

Your team is assigned the case: Wednesdays at Cinemex. Please review the six pages thoroughly. Your assignment is to evaluate, as a consultant, the economic conditions surrounding Cinemax and the resulting sale of the company in 2002. You are representing one of the parties that eventually purchased Cinemex. Using the economic knowledge you have learned in this course, advise them on the economic milieu that might be prompting the owners to sell the company. Consider the market, pricing and overall industry structure. These considerations are equally, if not more important, than the Questions for Analysisembedded in the case.

The Questions for Analysisshould be thoroughly addressed in the body of your report. Please note, you are writing a report for your client. Do not write a series of answers for questions a-e. The Questions are merely part of the focus on Wednesday ticket pricing, not the focus of your report on what might be prompting the owners to sell. Write a report!

The report for your client should not exceed three pages, and in all likelihood, could be completed with two pages. You may include additional information, such as formulas, charts, graphs and so forth in an appendix, if needed. A PowerPoint presentation for your client should encompass your thoughts and insights from your written report. The presentation would not exceed 5 minutes. Please have the appropriate number of slides for this rather short presentation. Per the syllabus, we will not actually present the case in class. You will be graded according to the insight you have shown in advising your client and the economic knowledge you are displaying in the report and in the presentation. The quality of your writing will be a consideration for both the report and the presentation.
