CASE INCIDENT DAVCO MACHINE LTD. Machine Ltd. is located in Grande Prairie in northern Alberta, where it designs builds equipment for the forestry, construction, and oil and gas industries. The many has 70 employees, most of whom are machinists, welders, mechanics, or mill- Surichts. Dayco formed a partnership with technical schools in Edmonton and was able to generate interest among students to apprentice at the company. However, the facility didn't have enough journeypersons to meet the requirement of one journeyperson for every apprentice. The company representatives travelled to Germany to take part in a job fair hosted by the provincial government. When a worker in Germany is unemployed, the government requires him/her to go back to school. As a result, Germany has a low unemployment rate and a highly educated labour pool. Once in Germany, Davco had no problem recruiting four journeyperson machinists. QUESTIONS 1.
