The case to be analyzed in this assignment is "Case 4 Who Staffs the Hospital".

You can find the case in Canvas Module 13 Conflict & Negotiations. You, the Director of Nursing, are aware of the impact your decision will have on the upcoming contract negotiations between the union and Associated Hospitals. If your decision is favorable to the union, the union representatives will demand that the individual employees be allowed to decide the limits of their professional competency and to override management decisions regarding staffing. The union will also attempt to formalize this by making it a part of the proposed contract.

Please answer the following questions:

1. Discuss the ramifications of any decisions you will make. 2. How will the decision affect the hospital association's bargaining position? 3. Whatever decision you make no doubt will be appealed by Helen and will result in binding arbitration. Does this have any effect on your decision? 4.
