through superior quality and services. One of the most crucial factors contributing towards the

success of such a business is customer satisfaction. However, in such a fast$-$paced environment and

continuous growth in technology, customers have higher expectations from the quality and speed of

the products and services provided to them due to an awareness of the different emerging

technologies available to accomplish that. The main objective of the restaurant is to maximize the

overall customer satisfaction which includes many elements among which the most important are

consistency, timely and quality meals.

A good portion of the revenues eamed by restaurant are through the delivery service. They want

the food service to be quick and with the best quality possible. Therefore, Los Mariscos incorporates

a freshness guarantee and a promise delivery within a predetermined period of time, specifying that

late deliveries will be free of charge.

At the same time, the company doesn't employ any delivery courier: orders are delivered by

independent contractors $($similar to Uber drivers$).$ They use an app that connect customers, and

drivers to their booking systems, Customers can track their orders while drivers can register their

availability for the next hour. The system takes the data and computes the delivery routes every $15$

minutes, minimizing the total delivery cost.

On Tuesday, February ${12}^{th},8$:$32$ PM$,$ the restaurant had $15$ orders registered in the system. The data

below shows the list of orders as they were received, and the location of the customers. There are

four drivers available with their current locations given in Table $1.$ You are requested to assist the

restaurant with the delivery of the orders at a minimum cost given the following:

$1-$ Drivers can accept or reject a delivery at their convenience.

$2-$ Once a driver accepts a delivery, he is contracted for the next hour. The contract can be tacitly

renewed on the same basis.

$3-$ Drivers are given a fixed cost of $30AE\frac{D}{p}er$ hour once hired plus a variable cost of $0\mathrm{.}75$

AED per km$.$ They can be assigned as many deliveries as possible during the hour.

Customers are charged $10$AED per delivery, However, if the order is not delivered within

$45$ minutes, then the delivery will be free of charge.

$5-$ Delivery distances are rectilinear.

You need to take into consideration the following:

Any missing data or information should be assumed and justified.

Based on your assumption in $2,$ formulate an optimization problem that helps deliver the orders

at a minimum total cost.

Solve and determine the optimal solution.

After you find the optimal delivery routes, one of the drivers $($the one who received the least

amount of money from your solution$)$ rejects the offer. Use your proposed model to update the

solution.
