Changes happen quickly in cities today, and often the change begins with reports being written for politicians to help set policy directions. For each of the following situations, do some secondary and primary research, analyze your results, draw conclusions, and make recommendations.  

Your Task. Create mini formal reports in written, PowerPoint, or Infographic format for your city's Planning Committee (made up of city councilors from various parts of the city) on the following real-world issues facing your city: 

City tax revenues have been falling for the past five years. It's been suggested one way to raise revenue is to allow a new megamall to be built somewhere in the city. Research the best location in your city for such a mall.

City tax revenues have been falling for the past five years. It's been suggested one way to raise revenue is to monetize certain services that have traditionally been free (e.g., library, parks, community centres, roads). Research the most appropriate services in your city to monetize.

City tax revenues have recently stabilized and even been growing. It's been suggested one worthwhile thing to do with the extra money is to increase municipal services. Research new areas for your city to provide services to its citizens.

FORMAL BUSINESS REPORT: CHANGES IN THE URBAN LANDSCAPE
