Chap 9 Homework Designing a Basic Organizational Dispute System
This week we discussed and examined various aspects of organizational dispute system designs (DSD). Using either a recurring dispute you experienced/observed either at school or in your workplace, create a DSD to address the dispute (remember DSDs can be used to avoid disputes as well).
For the actual DSD created use the four stages identified in the text and below:
Organizational Diagnosis identify conflict, brief organizational history, stakeholders, estimated organizational cost to maintain things and to move to collaborative dispute resolutions (costs can be financial, social, interpersonal, etc..), design team members,
System Design actual DSD process you would create (from lowest cost, loop-back processes, to escalated resolution). Think of this as the steps in your DSD that an employee would use to get organizational justice (distributive, procedural, informational and interpersonal justices. Feel free to use process charts as an appendix to show the steps/stages in your design.
Implementation how the DSD will be rolled out, time table, marketing, etc.
Evaluation and Diffusion identify three questions you would use to evaluate your DSD pre and -post implementation (much like the activity completed in class).
Your response is to be 3-4 pages and properly formatted (MLA is better suited here); if you choose to create steps or a process chart it would be an appendix to the 3-4 page limit. For the most part, the homework should be presented in narrative form; the actual DSD may be presented either as narrative or as steps or as a process chart. Support your homework with materials presented throughout the course.
Uploaded documents must be in MS Word format (.doc, .docx, .pdf); if you use Google Drive, make sure you convert your document in a MS Word-able format. Upload the file; do not paste your paper into the area. The homework is due by 11:59 pm on the date indicated, typically late assignments are not accepted.
