Chapter 1 presents some basic management concepts, including defining management, and attempting to explain what managers actually do. Mintzberg's managerial roles are perhaps the most common way to explore what managers do as they manage. This project focuses on these roles and the other things managers do, including managerial skills and chacteristics. Please read Sections 1.2 and 1.3 in our course textbook for more specific information on these concepts. Note: The discussion resources on Mintzberg's managerial roles are also relevant to parts of this project. Therefore, they are reproduced below. Please use them as necessary to complete the project: In his 1989 book entitled Mintzberg on Management: Inside Our Strange World of Organizations, management scholar Henry Mintzberg organized some of the roles of management into three categories: (1) Informational roles--including the roles of monitor, disseminator, and spokesperson, (2) Interpersonal roles--including the roles of figurehead, leader, and liaison, and (3) Decisional roles--including the roles of entrepreneur, disturbance handler, resource allocator, and negotiator Section 1.2 of our textbook discusses these roles that managers play as they perform their jobs. Please read that discussion for information on management roles. Also, please read the Aug. 21, 2016 Taskworld article by Jessica Zartler entitled Mintzberg Model: 10 Different Roles of a Successful Manager for another perspective on the roles managers play, including tips for improving performance in each role. See the article here: Mintzberg Model (Links to an external site.). Finally, please view Mintzberg's Managerial Roles, a YouTube video by Alanis Business Academy which explores Mintzberg's ideas on management roles: Mintzberg's Managerial Roles pergs Fiat Con nothing aftnctions Planning vag inad 19 e who is in charge of an organization or Question 3 (12 points): You are the manager of Jiffy-Stopp, a local convenience store, which has just been victimized by graffiti.
