  • In light of the case and materials covered in the course, answer the following questions:

1. Were there any cultural differences that influenced the negotiation process and/or outcomes? Discuss with a pertinent example drawn from the case and/or relevant chapters.

2. What are the individual and joint values that can be created by VW and Tata in the alliance?

3. Based on your knowledge of international strategic alliances and international business negotiations, what aspects in terms of: a) the structure of alliance, and b) terms and conditions need to be clearly laid out for the deal to be successful?

4. Imagine that VW and Tata have German and Indian cultural values embedded in their respective organizational structures and processes. In light of the facts presented in the case and assigned readings, recommend two short-term alliance management strategies that the companies may adopt (assuming successful deal completion) to minimize their culture clash and/or strengthen their relational fit as partners.
