CHAPTER 19 Project Management

Lets look at your semester in Operations Management as a project.

1. Identify your Project Management team and assigned roles.

2. Using your course syllabus as a reference document, define the project objectives and deliverables (Section 19-2a)

3. Complete the table: (you will need to add rows)

4. Draw the project network. (Section 19-2b)

5. Complete a Gantt Chart using the Gantt Chart template provided on SAM. (Section 19-2d)

6. Estimate Activity Resources: A itemized list of items you need to complete the activities (Ex. Textbooks, computers, printers, etc.

7. Estimate activity costs: Assume that each team member is paid $10.00/hr.

8. Determine Budget: For this section provide a total for the resources used.

Chapter 1 & 2 Operations Management and Performance Measures

Choose a business that you would like to create an Operations Plan for. It is a good idea to use the topic you have chosen for Entrepreneurship. If you have already completed a Business Plan, please feel free to use that as your business of choice.

1. Draw and Describe the Customer Benefit Package for the chosen business. (Section 1-5 Exhibit 1.2 provides a visual as a guide)

2. Identify and describe the primary, support, and general management processes that need to execute a customer order or provide a service. (Section 1-6a)

3. Develop a Value Chain for the business (Section 1-7 a, c)

4. What types of performance measures might be used to evaluate your business? Be sure to specify the category, organizational level, and operational level performance measures that apply to your business. (Exhibit 2.1)
