(Chapter 6): Estimate the production rate in bfhr of the
entire process of loading, unloading and hauling lumber
on a construction site. The lumber will be hauled 5 miles
at an average haul speed of 30 miles per hour. The
average return speed will be 45 miles per hour. A crew of
three laborers and one truck driver will be able to unload
and stack the lumber at 1,000 bf per hour per worker. A
loader will load the trucks at the stockpile in 15 minutes.
The capacity of the truck is 2,500 board feet. (15 Points)
You have to calculate the inefficiency of a laborer for a
task. Assume the following per day.
a. Determine the # of hours you must carry per shift
for each laborer
Assume:
Safety meeting -15 minutes
Two Breaks -15 minutes
Lunch -30 minutes
10 hour shift
b. With the information above (9.a) Determine the #
of hours you must carry per shift for each laborer
with a 80% efficiency:
Assume:
Inefficiency factor -80%
( Chapter 6 ) : Estimate the production rate in b
