Chapter 8 (Chapter 7 in the 4th edition)

The following exercise is to develop a survey to determine if users like the www.UIU.edu website.

1. Who would be the participants of this type of survey?
2. What is your relationship to the participants? Will this bias the responses?
3. Which triangulation technique would you use and why? (You can use multiple)
4. What data recording mechanism would you use and why? (You can use multiple)
5. What type of interview would you use and why? (You can use multiple)
6. What type of questionnaire would you use and why? (You can use multiple)
7. How would you use direct and indirect observation to gather data for this purpose? (You can use both)
8. Explain the environment and techniques you would use for your indirect and/or direct observation.
9. (9-10) Develop the layout of the survey using the answers to the questions above. Also, provide a hypothesis for the answers you think you would receive.

• The survey should have:
  1. 5 interview questions,
  2. 5 questionnaire questions

Continuing from Chapter 8's Survey

1. Give your survey to 5 friends.
2. Analyze the data for both Qualitative and Quantitative results and write up what it tells you.
3. Use at least 3 visualization tools to display the results of your analysis to add to your points.
4. Answer the following for the Seven Stages of Action for UIU.edu http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Seven_stages_of_action
   1. Does website facilitate the Forming of a goal? (also provide the goal you choose to accomplish and why)
      • Can I look at the webpage and pick a goal I am interested in. What goal did you choose and why?
   2. Does the website facilitate the Forming of an intention? (also provide what your intention was to move toward that goal)
      • Based on your goal, does the website provide me with something I intend to acquire or do to meet that goal
   3. Does the website facilitate specifying an action to move to the intended? (also provide what action you choose and how UIU specified the action)
      • Is my intention available by an action? Or is it not
   4. Does the website facilitate executing the action to move toward the goal? (also provide how you executed the action)
      • If I execute the action item provided, does it move toward my goal
   5. Does the website facilitate Perceiving the state of the world? (also provide on the what, when, where, how and why you perceive from the site)
      • When I am navigating. Can I tell where I am, Where I have been, Where I can go, how to go own, etc.....
   6. Does the website facilitate Interpreting the state of the world (also provide What does the perceived state actually tell you)
      • Perceiving (seeing) is only one part, we need to interpret it to understand what it means. Can I do that?
   7. Does the website facilitate Evaluating the outcome? (Did you get where and what you wanted for your goal)
      • Can I tell that I reached my goal? I am at a mid-point to a choice. Etc....
