CHAPTER 9: Forecasting and Demand Planning

1. Choose one item to forecast in relation to your business. (Sales may be a useful choice)

Be sure to include the following;

1. Planning Horizon (minimum one year)
2. Time Bucket (monthly dollar and units)
3. Trends, seasonal patterns, or cyclical patterns.
4. Refer to section 9-5 and 9-6 and tell me the rationale for the forecast data you have provided.
5. Provide a graphical representation of your forecast.

CHAPTER 10: Capacity Management :

1. Based on the sales forecast you provided in your business plan do the following;

1. Provide the forecasted sales for January December.
2. Calculate the capacity for your business for each month.
3. Create a graph showing the trend of demand to capacity.
4. Identify the Demand to Capacity ratio.
5. Give a rationale for the capacity based on the facility layout, staffing, and process times.
6. Provide two short-term capacity management decisions and one long-term capacity management decision that will help your business manage capacity. Explain each decision.

CHAPTER 15: Operations Scheduling and Sequencing

Labour Supply: Based on the Labour Force Survey or other statistics you can find, indicate the labour availability in your industry/market that is relevant for your business.

Schedule: Based on the forecasted demand, identified resources and equipment, and operational hours. Provide an example schedule for one week of operations take into consideration full time and part time employees. Identify any months you may expect to have major fluctuations in this schedule. Give a one-line explanation why.
