Assessment Associate Trial Task

Candidate Objectives:

• Demonstrate the ability to organize information and present it in a clear, concise manner

• Demonstrate excellent attention to detail

Task Objective:

• Prepare a logistics plan for the upcoming NYS Science Performance test. The school principal, assistant principal(s) and teachers will follow your logistics plan to administer the test.

• Your logistics plan must provide essential information so that teachers and leaders know which scholars are testing, when they are testing, and which teacher will administer the test for which scholars.

Essential Information:

• Scholars take their Science Performance test in small groups, with no more than nine scholars in a classroom at a time (groups can be smaller, but may not be larger than nine scholars).

• The test is administered to small groups throughout the day for the duration of the testing period. Each small group is administered the test in one 70-minute block, with a break in between each groups block (minimally 15 minutes).

• The number of days devoted to testing varies across the state, as it depends on scholar enrollment at each school. test administration may take anywhere from one to three days.

• The test is administered in two classrooms throughout the testing period. In each of those classrooms, there are two teachers serving as supervisor during test

• Your logistics plan should:

  • Identify two or three consecutive days in the month of May for testing

  • Identify two classrooms used for testing

  • Assign four teachers in total to supervise during test duty

  • Group scholars and assign them to testing blocks

  • Use the scholar details captured in this spreadsheet. Please make a copy of this document.

  • Be easy for faculty to read, understand, and follow

• Please supply your work product in a Google Sheet.

Additional Information:

• Assessment Associates are responsible for coordinating assessment and academic logistics, and will be required to prepare logistics plans similar to the one required here.

• Keep in mind, this is a trial activity to give you an opportunity to meet the objectives above. You will likely have to make some set of assumptions as you complete the task; feel free to do so and to include any notes that may be helpful to the reviewer.
