Danilo recently had been laid off from his job. He needed to find a new job soon. There were several people in his division who were laid off. In his case, it was because he was a good but average performer. He wasn$$t sure how to talk about his lay off in a positive way. On his application, he decided to be as truthful and positive as possible. He outlined the financial difficulties in his division but did not go into detail regarding his performance. He mentioned that he could discuss this further at the interview if requested. He was sure that his previous manager would still provide a reference because his performance problems had not been serious. He felt comfortable about not going into detail in his job application for this reason.
