Choosing a research Topic to be submitted
PROJECT SCHEDULING MANAGEMENT
Gaining Competitive advantage through Reducing Project Lead Times
We all know that any successfully completed project has to achieve three simultaneous objectives for scope (or content), schedule and cost. While this is well known, it is hard to achieve in reality. Often, companies find themselves forced to sacrifice one (or even two) of the objectives to achieve any one of them. Many of us have heard about situations where companies go over budget in order to deliver a project on time or even worse, ship a project to a customer (to achieve schedule) and finish it in the field.
The following are the topic structure that needs to be followed:
1. Title
2. Background to the Problem
3. Problem statement
4. Aim of the Study (Goal of the research)
5. Research Objectives (there should be at least 2 to 3 objectives and this includes objective on recommendations.
6. Research Questions (convert your objectives directly into questions. in other words, there should be as many research questions as there are research objectives)
7. Target Population (state which group of people the study is directed at)
8. Sample Size (state how many participants will be selected to participate in gathering your primary data eg. for Quantitative research the sample size should be a minimum of 60 participants and for qualitative research the sample size should be 8 to 10 participants.
Please note/ensure that when you start to prepare your research topic and proposal, current literature must be used (not older than 5 years, except in the case of original authors or textbooks). Information is constantly changing and it is important that you keep up with current trends.
NB: The title, problem statement, aim, objectives and research questions should all "talk to one another".
