The last two Case Studies required you to write a policy to administer funeral (bereavement) leave, both from the Management as well as the Union perspective.
This week's discusison question requires students to post their own Management funeral (bereavement) leave proposal, with other students then providing a rebuttal from the Union's point of view. Deliverables for this week's Discussion question are as follows:
First - post your Management Funeral (bereavement) Leave Policy. Please post it as text, not as an attachment, as attachments are much harder to read in a Discussion forum.
Second - Provide a brief rationale for your proposal, summarizing why you believe your proposal is fair and equitable.
Third - Each student will examine another student's Management Funeral Leave Policy from the perspective of the Union. Respond to the students initial post as if you are a Union representative, which means (most likely) you are going to find the Management Funeral Leave Policy as restrictive, unfair, and not acceptable. Ensure your response remains professional and courteous. I realize that in Management-Union negotiations that is not always the case, but it will be so in our class. No name-calling, no abusive language, and no unprofessional responses are allowed. Your responses to other student posts should summarize why you believe their proposal is unfair, excessively stringent, and/or inhumane.
