Please reference Chapter 5 from your textbook. SCENARIO: You work for a very small growing company as the Warehouse Manager. You and your team are overworked so you asked the owner for help. The owner agreed to hiring an Assistant Warehouse Manager on the conditions you provide a good job description, accountabilities, objectives, performance standards, and a plan to measure the results and behaviors of your new WH Assistant Manager As the Manger you Do have a formal job description (see below), but no accountabilities, objectives, or performance standards. The same is true for your managers (also below). All of you were acquaintances of the owner and were hired quickly when the company started, so you only have job descriptions. The owner told you the new WH Assistant Manager will take what you develop for them, and create the same for the managers. This scenario is vague and simple on purpose. The point is NOT to focus on specific details of the company, but to think through basic job duties and how to measure them. The company and its business are all hypothetical. Assume it's a very small distribution center with approximately a dozen employees. You receive palletized product by the full truckload (Inbound Department), it gets put into inventory, and then individual boxes are picked off the pallets, by hand, onto push-carts, and delivered to shipping (Inventory Department), and then the carts are unloaded into boxes, packaged and shipped (Outbound Department). There are no other departments. Each department has a Manager, and you are their boss. I Any other details about the company can be "created" and/or "assumed by you (the student) as you see fit to write your paper. Although this is not required. If you choose to do so, don't make the company's business overly complex. It's OK for it to be generic and/or ambiguous. This assignment is for you to apply what's in the textbook and do some external research. Your grade will be based upon how well you answer questions theoretically Assignment: Copy and paste the numbered items 1-9 below into a separate Word Document, and answer the questions using the format given. Read through all the questions before you start so you can plan your answers! As you progress through the answers, you may realize the "accountabilities" you've chosen initially may not translate well into measurable objectives. If that happens, re-evaluate the accountably. You may need to re-word it so there are clear objectives, or worst case, pick a different accountability. Job Descriptions: Warehouse Manager: Responsible for the day to day operations of the warehouse. Primary duties: Ensure efficient receiving, storage, inventory, picking and shipment of goods. Additional duties: Safety and security of warehouse equipment, building, and product. Coordinate external maintenance for all warehouse equipment; Recruit and hire new warehouse employees. Oversee new employee training. All injuries must be reported to the owner immediately. Required daily reports: any personnel changes, incorrect inbound receipts, inventory errors over $500, all customer returns (with details why) and all customer complaints. Required weekly reports: total receipts, total shipments. All product must be inventoried quarterly. Any implemented process improvements will be reported as deemed appropriate. Inbound Manager: Schedule all inbound deliveries, coordinate unloading, stage product for inventory department Report forklift maintenance issues to WH Manager. Paragraph Styles Inventory Manager.
