MAKE a histogram for the first variable (from column two). Choose Graph/Histogram, and select the name of the first variable.

Leave the type as Frequency, and set "Start at" under Bins to the minimum value for this data set. Set the "Width" to the class width required to create SIX classes. To calculate the class width, you will need to calculate range/6. The class width MUST have the same number of decimal places as your original data. As such, round this value UP to the next highest tenths place (in other words, make the tenths place one larger, even if the value in the hundredths place is below a 5). Set meaningful names for the X axis label (hint - what is the variable you are studying?), Y axis label (hint - remember that you are looking at the number of STATES, not people, that fall in a group)
